My wife’s vision is starting to go so I was on the computer the other night looking up Lasik information, you know that laser surgery that helps people see better without having to wear contacts and glasses. I found some good information and printed off a few pages that I’d probably have to read to Dianne given the type was too small. I’m like anyone else. After all that researching, I got bored and start randomly surfing the web. A little while later, I typed my name into the search engine just to see what it would pull up. And of course it came up with these random people with the same name who were lawyers, doctors, and even someone asking for Lasik information on a message board (which was not me). Finally, I came across a short story that I wrote 20 years ago and got published. I’d long since given up writing since no one wanted anything to do with my novel manuscripts, but this was a real kick for me. It was this mystery about a police detective coming home to find his family dead, but there was no way anyone could have gotten in and out of the house. In the end, the detective realized he could have and that he’d killed his family. I really liked that ending, even after re-reading it 20 years later.
